Pool decks are meant to look great, but also be practical. This second part can be a bit tricky. The area can look the part, but if it gets extremely slippery when wet, it basically does the job half right. To be safe you would have to essentially cover the area with mats that will make the surface safer. Then that would take the whole point out of building a great looking deck area. For the most part we are going to be creating concrete pool decks as well as paved stone structures for this area.
Have You Thought About How Large Of A Pool Deck You Would Like To Have?
This is certainly one of the questions that you should seriously be asking yourself. Not every single home is going to look great with a large wooden deck area. Sometimes “decks” can be used to just cover the immediate area around the pool. Mainly so you are not dealing with some of the typical finishes that can look a bit outdated. Some of the recent projects that we’ve worked on involved stoned paved surfaces around pools. We have to say that we are very pleased with the way that we’ve been able to make some clients’ homes look.
A Concrete Deck
Some people are going to shy away from creating a deck out of concrete because they are probably thinking that concrete is too hard and too rough to be able to be put around a pool area. There are different finishes that we are going to be able to provide though. Where you could be obtaining a durable deck area around your pool. Without the deck being overly rough, or hard to walk on by any means. There are a wide variety of materials that we could be using to create your next pool deck. If you give us a call we are going to be able to show you some of the previous projects that we’ve worked on!
Does Concrete Do Well With Water?
To be honest, when you put anything up against an excessive amount of moisture there is a chance for trouble. If you were to build a concrete surface on tough soil without the presence of moisture it could give you a bit less trouble. Still, concrete is probably going to cope much better with moisture than wooden decks or other types of materials. Just as long as we make sure that the water is not penetrating into it. If it is, we have to create proper drainage channels.
Textured Concrete Surfaces
A well thought out textured concrete surface can work great for pool areas. The problem is a poorly thought out textured concrete surface can also have negative results. We are 100% confident that we are going to be able to create a durable and great looking textured concrete surface for you. If you want to explore some of the options that may be on the table for you be sure to give us a call.
